PLL 3x24 “A Dangerous Game”.

I’m serious, friends. Do yourself a big favor and go back and watch 3x22-3x24 and tell yourself “Spencer has a twin.” Because those episodes look very different with that in mind.

There’s the obvious moments where Spencer and the Liars both talk about how she’s changed. But there’s other stuff too. In 3x24 especially.

Watch the scene where where Shana is introducing herself to Spencer. Shana says “I don’t think we’ve met.” And for a moment, Spencer looks scared. Perhaps Twincer and Shana know each other already, and the reason Spencer fails to speak up and introduce herself, is that she’s worried Shana could blow her cover.

Seriously. Watch the scene. Watch Troian’s actions in response to Shana.

Tell me that the person who Toby is following in the woods couldn’t be Troian?

And then, in the end of this episode we see A hand poking out of the grave, and being pulled to safety. What if this wasn’t Ali’s rescue but the second person who was buried? The one Melissa thought was Bethany?

And then, in the next episode, 4x01… we meet black widow, who has the exact same build as Spencer.

PLL 3x24 Help me out? Did we ever find out who THIS person was? This is the person Toby was following in the woods during the lodge fire. They were wearing long pants and a sort of military looking jacket. Very femme looking hair and face. Doesn't look like Charlotte to me. Did they ever confirm that it was supposed to be her?

Rewatching PLL in 30 Episodes

Even though (or maybe because) I’m not the biggest fan of the PLL ending, I’ve put together a list of thirty episodes of the show that when watched together will hopefully create a concise storyline that makes relative sense. I actually got this idea because I have a theory that the ending of Gossip Girl would make sense if you shortened the show to about twenty episodes (I would make a post about that, but my opinions about the last season of GG are pretty unpopular) and decided to apply the same concept to PLL. The idea is to tie together the first and last episodes, which for PLL are very different. I find it almost impossible to rewatch PLL because a. there are a lot of filler episodes and b. the last episode doesn’t line up very well with the rest of the show. By reducing the show to 30 episodes picked because they create a narrative to back up the finale, you get rid of both those problems. Although there are some plot holes that will never make sense.

A couple notes before we begin:

-I haven’t rewatched most of the show since it ended, although I did rewatch older episodes a lot as it was ending. I might’ve missed a couple important episodes that should be on this list. Feel free to add any in the notes.

-This list probably only makes sense if you’ve already watched the show and just want to rewatch parts of it. There are also spoilers in my episode descriptions.

-There are some good episodes missing in order to create this narrative in this amount of episodes. I would make a list of best episodes, but that’s subjective (for me it’s pretty much seasons 1-3A and 6A). You can give and take episodes to suit your personal preference.

-I haven’t watch this list yet myself. I plan on making a follow up post when I do, but it could be a few weeks.

The actual list:

1. 1x01 “Pilot”

Starting with the first episode, we learn about Ali’s disappearance and “death,” Aria meets Ezra, and A is introduced.

2. 1x02 “The Jenna Thing”

The title says it all. The Jenna Thing™️ comes up in later episodes on the list, so it’s important to learn about. This episode also feels like an extension of the pilot.

3. 1x19 “Person of Interest”

Part of condensing the show this much is skipping over storylines that either don’t get resolved or aren’t very relevant to the A reveals, which is why there isn’t much of Ian and/or the NAT club on this list. This episode is included because it’s setting up 3/4 of the “endgame” ships. A couple scenes in this episode are paralleled in 7B.

4. 2x13 “The First Secret”

You can’t watch PLL without watching this episode. It’s also important set up for 3x13, which is number 9 on the list.

5. 2x25 “Unmasked”

Of course we need to see the first A reveal. Mona’s run as A is important to later episodes on the list, as well as the parallel of her slapping Spencer and her winning the game in the finale.

6. 3x01 “It Happened That Night”

The start of Charlotte’s run as A. Since Charlotte being A is what leads to Alex being AD, Charlotte is a big focus of this list.

7. 3x07 “Crazy”

Charlotte’s first appearance as CeCe.

8. 3x12 “The Lady Killer”

The reveal of Maya’s killer and Toby’s first A Team appearance.

9. 3x13 “This is a Dark Ride”

First hint that Ali is alive. Ties into later episodes.

10. 3x24 “A dAngerous gAme”

Ali is alive, Mona and Toby are kicked off the A team, and ties into 6x10.

11. 4x01 “A is for A-l-i-v-e”

Extension of 3x12, answers about Mona’s work as A, Wilden’s body is found, and Black Widow appears.

12. 4x11 “Bringing Down the Hoe”

���CeCe” is seen in the A uniform spying on Aria and Ezra.

13. 4x20 “Free Fall”

Aria learns about Ezra’s book, which is important for 4x24 and mentioned in 5x25.

14. 4x24 “A is for Answers”

Ali officially reintroduces herself to the liars and gives them some answers about why she disappeared, CeCe is arrested for killing Wilden, and Jessica is murdered.

15. 5x01 “Escape from New York”

Continuation of 4x24 and the supposed death of A.

16. 5x05 “Miss Me x 100”

Return of A, first mention of Bethany Young, and ship stuff paralleled in 7x20.

17. 5x12 “Taking This One to the Grave”

Mona fakes her death and is kidnapped, important for The Dollhouse.

18. 5x25 “Welcome to the Dollhouse”

The Dollhouse is Charlotte’s main A thing and gives clues to her reveal/backstory.

19. 6x01 “Game on, Charles”

Continuation of 5x25 and Sara Harvey’s first on screen appearance.

20. 6x09 “Last Dance”

Leads into 6x10 and sets up where a lot of the characters will be in the time jump. Wine moms reappear in 7x20.

21. 6x10 “Game Over, Charles”

Charlotte’s A reveal and backstory, which is tied to Alex’s AD reveal and backstory. “Answers” for Bethany Young’s death.

22. 6x11 “Of Late I Think of Rosewood”

Start of time jump, Charlotte’s death, and introduction to Elliott Rollins/Archer Dunhill. And the ships are reintroduced.

23. 6x20 “Hush, Hush, Sweet Liars”

Introduction of Mary Drake and Evil Archer.

24. 7x01 “Tick-Tock, Bitches”

Continuation of 6x20 and the first appearance of Alex Drake.

25. 7x04 “Hit and Run, Run, Run”

The cover up of Archer’s death which is important to later episodes.

26. 7x10 “Darkest Night”

Alex impersonating Spencer, Ali tells Emily she’s pregnant, and Spencer finds out that Mary is her birth mother.

27. 7x11 “Playtime”

Continuation of 7x10, start of the game, and Spencer’s mom explains her birth.

28. 7x15 “In the Eye Abides the Heart”

Ali makes a decision about her pregnancy that explains her and Emily’s ending and Ezra catches Alex talking to Wren, although they pretend she’s Spencer.

29. 7x19 “Farewell, My Lovely”

It’s revealed that Mona killed Charlotte in self defense, Mary takes the fall for Archer’s death, the Liars win the game, and general set up for 7x20.

30. 7x20 “Till Death Do Us Part”

The last episode of the show, which will hopefully be more satisfying to watch with only 29 episodes before it. All the ships are wrapped up in pretty little bow, the mystery is solved, less filler means less plot holes, and it’ll only take you 21 hours to watch. Okay, I’m still a little salty about this last episode, but I do genuinely think it makes more sense in the context.

You could definitely include a few more episodes on this list, especially from season seven, but I wanted to keep it as short as possible. Let me know what you think of this idea and which episodes you would add or takeaway.

Hello! Sorry if this has been addressed before and I missed it, but something about PLL crosses my mind. In 3x01, when “Ali’s” body was stolen, was Charlotte stealing the body to somehow verify that Ali was alive? I thought Charlotte said she didn’t suspect Ali was alive until 3x24 (lodge fire). So... why did Charlotte steal the body? And did Charlotte take the body (which I assume was Bethany’s) and put it on the ghost train to be discovered in 3x13?

CeCe said in 610 that “I started seeing a blonde in a Red Coat. At first I thought I lost it, I mean I watched mum bury you. I needed to know if you were alive” (jeez idk how I remember that) so yes I think you’re right - she dug the grave to see who was buried there, and it wasn’t Ali. So then she trapped the girls at the Lodge to put them in danger to lure Ali out of hiding, for solid confirmation if she’s alive, and she got that confirmation that night. That’s my understanding of that event. And then I think it was CeCe who stole the body, I can’t see who else would’ve done that. I think it was the A ending scene of 302 or 303 where we saw A/CeCe with a body bag - so I think it’s safe to assume CeCe had Bethany’s body and put it on the train.

PLL UNANSWERED QUESTIONS

(Not in any particular order) 1. CeCe claims that she wasn't the one to talk to Melissa (even though she told Emily that she talked to her to get the tapes and we saw a flashback) and that it was Bethany. So how is Melissa and Bethany talking if they don't know each other and how did Jason know what Bethany looked like to mistake her for being CeCe? 2. The rooftop incident is one of the biggest plot holes from 6x10. First of all, why would a institution let patients on a rooftop WITHOUT supervision? No hospital does that. And how is Charles 12 years old when Marion died in 2007?yes I know you wanna kiss me. 3. Why did it say "prom queen" in the yearbook if cece didn't go to school at rosewood high? Just sit on down so we can take your picture even though you don't go to school here. 4. What was the point of bringing up that Mrs. D and Mr. Young (Bethany's dad) had an affair if it's never not going to be addressed again? Further more, who the fuck are Bethany's parents and why did Mrs. D tell Bethany to call her "aunt Jessie"? Also we didn't see Bethany's face only when she was a child... 5. What does Sara Harvey have against Hanna? I recall seeing redcoat burning Hanna's doll head off... 6. How did CeCe become an expert in the medical field? 7. Apparently CeCe found out that Ali was alive in 3x24 but yet weren't Noel and CeCe helping Alison the whole time? I can't remember if it was an assumption since Ali helped CeCe escape to Paris and we assumed it was because Cece helped Ali stay in hiding, too. So if someone can explain that to me that would be great. 8. Marlene confirmed in via interview that CeCe buried Mrs D so CeCe is just going to send a video of burying her mom and send it Alison even though she claimed that she loved her? but now we're being told that Mary might been the one to bury her.... well what the fuck. 9. What the fuck happened to Eddie lamb? 10. Why did A need a tux rental if it was CeCe and Sara? 11. So did CeCe turn herself in at the end of 4x23? Or did someone else turn her in? It's a plot hole until explained. 12. Why would CeCe dress as a male in the dollhouse if she identifies herself as female now? No one that is transgender wouldn't do that because it would remind them of their past. You can say that she did it to make the girls think it's a guy or whatever but a trans person wouldn't do that. 13. In 6x06 Mona said that Leslie said that two patients snuck out that night CHARLES and Bethany, who the fuck is Charles? That would've been Charlotte by then. 14. Why did Barry help CeCe escape? 15. If Jessica was protecting CeCe, then why bother telling the girls that she didn’t want Ali and CeCe spending time together. If she was protecting CeCe, why cast any suspicious light on her at all? 16. Why didn't Mrs. D show any emotion to CeCe being arrested? She just starred at her... 17. If she was a patient at Radley while attending U Penn, then how in the hell did she have a room mate when she went to U Penn? If the room mate was just a person she hired, then why have her tell the girls that she blamed them and Ali for her getting kicked out of U Penn. 18. Why did Wren make CeCe a visitors badge? 19. How was CeCe allowed to go to cape may if she was in radley? They're not going to let you out for summer trips.... 20. Spencer said she felt something familiar about the guy in the dollhouse, now before y'all say that it's because CeCe and Spencer are sisters, this wasn't planned back then and CeCe and Spencer barely had any interaction with each other. So how is the person going to feel familiar to you if you barely know them? 21. "One of you have been touch by the one Alison fears the most." We can all assume that it was because Aria touched CeCe when she was about to fall in 4x12 but Alison never feared CeCe and I just don't think so.... 22. Why are the girls irrelevant to the mystery and are just being tortured for fun 23. Why was Mary at the blind school in 7x10? 24. Who was the blond girl in the window of Alison's bedroom in 1x01? 25. Lyndon was the one who supposedly killed her but yet he had no relevance to the story... and he didn't even confirm that he killed her. "What do you think?" Isn't confirmation. 37. Was Melissa really the other queen of hearts? We didn't see her. 38. Who gave Ali the bloody lip? 39. Why was Noel helping CeCe in the dollhouse? What did CeCe have on him? 40. What is Melissa's significance to the story? Why did Melissa take that photo of Wilden, Alison, and CeCe on the boat at cape may? 41. Why didn't Eddie and Wren not like each other that much? "The minute that guy got here it wasn't for the right reasons." well what the fuck. 42. Who did Mona, Jenna, and Sydney meet at the park in 5x05? 43. Who was Wren talking to on the phone in 4x10? Why would CeCe let the Liars think Ali was A? She said she was mad at the liars for being glad that Ali was dead, but she actively let them hate her. 108. Why did Bethany have Melissa’s riding helmet? 109. Why did Melissa say she saw Toby in London when she didn’t? 110. Why did Wren misspell the word "diagnosis"? Well that's it. At least that's all I put down... let's see how all (or at least half) this is answered within the next 3 episodes. WE NEVER GOT CONFIRMED ANSWERS FOR THESE.
